I made "2many" at around 5 am today. I woke up hella early cause I couldn't sleep and decided to work on a song, felt like making some breakcore but wanted to finally face the challenge of sampling and chopping the drums myself, to make my own break, and it went surprisingly well! I really enjoy listening to the song, and not to suck my own dick but I think the drums are really groovy and I enjoy how quick they are while still remaining rhythm. (Mind you, before this the only experience I had with sampling amen breaks was just stretching a loop to be on time with my beat.) If you're a musician who is in the same situation as I was, it's surprisingly easy.
If you're using FL Studio like I am, there's a plugin that's built in with (I think) all paid versions, and is what you're mainly gonna be using. The grand plugin is... Fruity Slicer. You can find it in the drum section, and you might've tried it before. All I did was put in a drum break I wanted to sample, turned a nob in the bottom to auto chop on each significant audio jump, and then played around with the notes to make something I enjoyed. Didn't take me too long to be honest, like I stated previously it's not actually as hard as I expected. An easy pattern I've been using is "Kick Hihat Snare Kick Hihat" and then spin on it from there.
Breakcore benefits from snappy kick snare patterns with open-ish hihats in-between, and this benefits from all of that. Sigma. Now for the reasoning, it didn't have too much of an underlying message as my other work usually does, however it does represent how I was feeling at the time. Often when I'm making music my mood seeps into the music even if I don't want it to. I was very chill, slightly energetic, and also slightly depressed, which I'd say is reflected pretty well/clearly in the music, which is interesting. I think if I had a scheduled music making session you could gauge my mood based on the tone of the song. Anyway, enough yapping, I made a new song, go listen if you have bad taste. bye :3
